Unit Overview

After the great flood and the Tower of Babel, God initiated a special relationship with an aging, childless man and promised him descendants, land, and influence. The Lord would maintain a special relationship with Abraham and his offspring, the nation of Israel. He would reveal Himself to them and ultimately would send His own Son, Jesus, to the earth as a member of this special group of people.

This free unit of Bible studies for preschoolers tells the story of God’s relationship with Abraham and how the patriarch responded to God’s call and blessings, including the blessing of being made a father at 100 years of age! Abraham’s life offers lessons even older preschoolers can understand. Among other things, Abraham’s life challenges us to trust God, even when we have to wait.

Kingdom Perspective

God took a significant early step in implementing His Kingdom plan of restoration by choosing Abraham, an aging, childless man, and promising to make a great nation of him and His descendants. While the Lord initiated and bestowed great blessings on His chosen servant, Abraham responded with actions consistent with a strong belief in the Lord and His promises. In focusing on God’s broader Kingdom and not solely on his relationship with the Lord, the patriarch gave believers a sterling example to follow today.
