These colorable Maundy Thursday bookmarks include an illustration of the bread and wine and have the words of Jesus, “Do this in remembrance of me,” printed on the front. They can help children celebrate the event and remember what Jesus did for us.
On the eve of His crucifixion (Thursday evening), Jesus shared the Passover meal with His disciples. Many Christians and churches remember this important event by observing Maundy Thursday services.
In addition to preparing His disciples for the coming events, Jesus transformed the Passover celebration by giving it new meaning. For centuries the Jews had celebrated their freedom from Egypt by eating a meal and by remembering the blood that was shed to save them from destruction when God passed over Egypt. (See Ex. 11 & 12.) Now the meal would represent the body and blood of Jesus as the final passover sacrifice. Jesus’ death secured forgiveness so people can now experience a new exodus from the bondage of sin.
