Jesus’ crucifixion, remembered on Good Friday, was certainly one of the most horrifying events in all of history. It’s understandable that some parents and teachers do not wish to expose younger children to the details of this tragic execution. Teaching or talking to kids about the crucifixion requires discretion to balance the reality of Jesus’ death and its horrific details with the age of the children in question. This illustration of Jesus’ crucifixion strikes a good balance between the pain and sorrow of the event and the need for an age-appropriate depiction of the scene. Even small children can learn from this illustration and grow in their understanding that Jesus suffered and died for our sins.
