Lesson Description
God chose Mary to be the mother of His Son. She was a poor Jewish girl, but full of faith and integrity. Mary humbly accepted the role God planned for her. She hurried to share the news with her relative Elizabeth, who had become pregnant herself even though she was beyond childbearing years. Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, prophesied about the Christ. Humbled by the huge call on her life, Mary broke forth with a song of praise to God. Her song is often called the Magnificat. It helps us to better appreciate Mary’s perspective and to express our own gratitude to God for sending His Son into the world. This Gabriel Told About Jesus Bible lesson for older preschoolers looks at Gabriel’s visit to Mary and teaches that God chose Mary to be the mother of Jesus.
