Lesson Description
Long before the birth of Jesus, the One who was God’s Son and the Messiah, God foretold His coming. We learn in Micah 5:2 the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem, the ancestral home of King David. Out of the little town of Bethlehem would come an eternal King.
Isaiah 7:14 announced the child would be born to a virgin. He would be called Immanuel, a name meaning “God with us.” This Immanuel would come to help His people (see Isa. 9:2-7). He would be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father and Prince of Peace. Israel looked forward to His coming, and we look back, grateful to God that He sent His Son Jesus into the world at just the right time (see Gal. 4:4-5).
