Lesson Description
Around the time of Jesus’ birth, Caesar Augustus was ruler of much of the world. God used Caesar’s orders that a census be taken to bring Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem (see Micah 5:2). While Mary and Joseph were in Bethlehem, the time came for Jesus to be born. Joseph searched for a room but found only an animal shelter in which to rest. Soon, the precious infant entered the world.
Nearby, an angel appeared to ordinary shepherds and announced the birth. The shepherds were overcome with excitement and ran to the city to find the baby just as the angel said. Afterward, they shared their experience with many others, and those who heard it were amazed. This story of the arrival of God’s Son into the world is still amazing today.
