David and the Giant Bible Craft

This fun clay stone craft is based on the story of David and Goliath. It will help remind kids that David was successful because God fought his battles for him.

Bible Text: 1 Samuel 17

Note: This craft is also available as a downloadable PDF.

Supplies List:

  • Air dry clay
  • Brown lunch bags
  • Yarn
  • Hole punch
  • Crayons

Step 1. Give students a brown lunch bag and instruct them to draw an illustration from the story of David and Goliath (see image).

Step 2. Next, use a hole punch to punch a few holes in the top of the bag and guide children in stringing a length of yarn through the holes to create a draw string (see image). You can trim the bag to make it smaller if you prefer.

Step 3. Give learners a good amount of air dry clay and instruct them to make five smooth stones. When the stones are done use the tip of a pencil and guide the students in carving the words, “The Battle Is The Lord’s” on the stones with only one word on each stone (see image).

Now kids can put their five rocks of faith into their bag just like David did.
