Exile Is Coming! Spot The Differences

Jeremiah was a prophet to the southern kingdom of Judah for a few years before and after 600 B.C. He lived during the tumultuous time leading up to and following the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple by the Babylonians (under Nebuchadnezzar) in 587 B.C. Jeremiah was called on by God to deliver a very unpopular message… “Destruction is coming! Exile is coming!” The destruction and exile he predicted was inevitable and finally did come when Jerusalem and the temple were destroyed. Only a few people escaped deportation to Babylon. Jeremiah witnessed it all, and while he himself escaped deportation, he was finally carried to Egypt (against his will) by other surviving Jews where he continued his unhappy ministry of preaching against God’s sinful people and its leaders, as well as Egypt itself. This Exile Is Coming! Spot The Differences activity will help kids gain a sense of the sorrow Jeremiah felt as he anticipated and preached about the loss of the people, city, and temple he loved so much.
