God Called Abraham Bible Craft

This simple compass craft will help children learn about Abraham’s faith and obedience to God’s call and remind kids that God is our guide no matter where we may be. God has things He wants to do with all people, but He desires that we trust Him. This craft will help kids realize and remember later on that God provides direction for us as we trust Him.

Bible Story: God Called Abraham

Bible Text: Genesis 12:1-9

Supplies List:

  • Paper plate
  • Craft brackets
  • Crayons
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Stickers

Step 1. Give each student a paper plate and instruct them to create a North, South, East and West compass face. Very young students may need some explanation of these directions and how Abraham was asked to follow God’s directions.

Step 2. Use a craft bracket and insert just the tip of it into the center of the paper plate. Wrap one end of the pipe cleaner around the bracket before inserting it all the way and securing it.

Step 3. Once inserted, the point of the compass will move freely so that students can point it to any direction. Encourage kids to continue decorating the compass with stickers or crayons.
