Note: This craft is also available as a downloadable PDF.
Bible Story: God Made Plants
Bible Text: Genesis 1:9-13
Suggested Learning Outcome: This beautiful flower craft will help remind students that not only was God good to give us plants for food, but He also gave us plants for beauty, such as flowers.
Supplies List:
- Colored cupcake papers (1 per child)
- Small colored craft pompoms (3 per child)
- Green construction paper
- Glue
- Colored construction paper
Teacher Preparation: Pre-cut stems and leaves out of green construction paper (1 set per child) before class to save time (see image).
Instructions:
Step 1. Give each student a stem and leaves set and a piece of colored construction paper. Instruct kids to glue the stem and leaves onto their construction paper. Explain how God designed each part of the plant to do a specific job (see image).
Step 2. Provide each student with a colored cupcake paper. Explain to students that this is the blossom of their flower. Emphasize how flowers are not necessary like food, but God created them as a special gift of beauty for us on earth. Instruct children to glue the cupcake paper to the top of the stem (see image).
Step 3. Hand out pompoms and instruct children to glue the pompoms inside of the cupcake paper to create the center of their blossom (see image).
