Unit Overview

Jesus is the central and supreme character in God’s unfolding story. During His earthly ministry, Jesus taught many things and performed many miracles. His death and resurrection fulfilled God’s promise in Genesis 3:15, but God was not done. This unit will help older preschoolers see how Jesus began the Church and how He used the early church to love people, help people, and communicate to them the truth about Jesus. In this unit children will see the biblical story is not over. Christians today now are part of the Church Jesus began on the day of Pentecost. This unit will help them understand that as they respond to God’s love, they’re part of God’s unfolding story! God wants to use them just as He used the people in the early church.

Kingdom Perspective

Jesus is the promised Messiah and King of the Old Testament who inaugurated the Kingdom of God when He came. After His death and resurrection, Jesus began the Church. The Church, which consists of all those who are true believers in Jesus as the Christ, is the bride of the King (Jesus Christ) and part of God’s plan to fully establish His Kingdom.
