John Wrote About Love Bible Craft

In 1 John 4, the Apostle John wrote to churches and encouraged the Christians in those churches to love each other as well as other people because they had first been the recipients of God’s love in Jesus Christ, God’s Son. This is an important truth for God’s people to learn and follow today as well. This hanging mobile craft will help remind children that God first loved us and we should, therefore, love others.

Bible Story: John Wrote About Love

Bible Text: 1 John 4:11

Supplies List:

• White cardstock
• Pink and red construction paper
• Markers
• Red ribbon
• Tape

Teacher Preparation: For each child, pre-cut pieces of white cardstock to resemble clouds and pre-cut several small heart shapes from the red and pink construction paper.

Instructions:

Give kids a cardstock cloud and guide them in writing the words, “God loves us, so we should love others. 1 John 4:11” on the cloud. Give children three or four lengths of red ribbon and assist them in taping these to the back of the cardstock so they’re each hanging down from the cloud. Provide children with several of the heart shapes and guide them in writing the name of someone they love (or should show love toward) on each heart. Help the kids tape these hearts on the ribbons. Another length of ribbon can be looped and taped at the top for the mobile to hang from.
