Joseph Told About Jesus Bible Craft

After the angel appeared to Joseph and explained that Mary’s baby would be the Messiah, Joseph no doubt talked to Mary about the angel’s visit and what it meant. This Christmas tree ornament will help kids remember that Jesus was a special baby born in a humble place.

Bible Story: Joseph Told About Jesus

Bible Text: Matthew 1:18-25

Supplies List:

• Craft sticks (8 per child)
• Brown paint
• Yellow construction paper stars
• Glue
• Pipe cleaners
• Scissors for cutting craft sticks

Teacher Preparation: Pre-cut small yellow construction paper stars.

Instructions:

Step 1. Give each child eight craft sticks and instruct them to paint the sticks brown. Allow to dry. A hair dryer can speed up this process.

Step 2. Securely wrap a pipe cleaner around a craft stick that will serve as the center stick in the manger design. Use scissors to trim the four craft sticks for the sides so that they decrease in size to serve as the sides of the manger. If needed, trim the two craft sticks for the roof also.

Step 3. Guide children in gluing the sticks together to create a manger design. This will take a good amount of glue. Glue the yellow star to the center of the manger roof. Allow to dry thoroughly before hanging.
