Joseph’s Special Coat Bible Craft

We remember Joseph’s coat of many colors as a special thing, but it created problems for the young Joseph in this Old Testament story. This felt craft will remind children of Joseph’s special gift from his father.

Bible Story: Joseph’s Special Coat

Bible Text: Genesis 37

Supplies List:

  • Various colors of felt
  • Cardstock or card board
  • Scissors
  • Glue/fabric glue

Teacher Preparation: Pre-cut card stock or card board into simple coat shapes making 1 per student. Pre-cut strips of felt for students to trim and use on Joseph’s coat.

Step 1. Give each student a cardboard coat shape and several strips of felt. Guide students in gluing strips of felt to the cardboard and then trimming the felt to suit the coat shape. (This is easier than trying to trim the strips to fit before gluing.)

Step 2. When the strips are trimmed around the coat, the children can play with their warm, fuzzy, colorful coats.
