“Those Who Mourn” Beatitudes Coloring Page
Jesus began the Sermon on the Mount with what are called “The Beatitudes.” As a whole, The Beatitudes help us understand the nature of God’s kingdom and challenge us to live as kingdom citizens. You can read an article about The Beatitudes on the site. Each of the beatitudes points to some aspect of the kingdom that God’s people should pursue.
In Matthew 5:4, Jesus was basically saying, “Israel, you are mourning because you remain in exile. (See this article.) But your exile continues because you need forgiveness from sin. Those who understand that the end of exile will come only with the forgiveness of sin will be truly comforted because they will understand the problem isn’t one of political and military power, but spiritual power.”
This “Those Who Mourn” Beatitudes Coloring Page will help remind kids that comfort in sorrow comes from Jesus, not circumstances.
