Dear Bible Teacher Of The Little Class

Dear Teacher Of The Little Class, I see you working faithfully on your lessons, wondering some weeks if there will even be any one there to teach. I see you skipping over some of the fun games and activities because, let’s face it, you’ve never had enough kids in your class to fill the needed spots. I feel your disappointment when you’re pumped about an awesome new craft, only to show up and find out someone was sick, a few are on vacation, or maybe just no one showed up. I see you sitting alone in your class during a lull in attendance. I see you trying to tell yourself, “That’s okay. I’ll just use the time to work ahead on the next lesson.”

That’s Not All I See

But, I also see you during those lessons where there are real, heart-to-heart conversations between you and your few kiddos. Those Sundays where only one child showed up, and it’s a new kid you barely know, but he tuned in when you shared the salvation story and let the Bible speak. He asked all the right questions and you could really see the weight of the truth you were sharing sinking right into his heart.

Dear Teacher Of The Little Class, your work does not go unnoticed. Our heavenly Father has seen every faithfully prepared lesson, even the ones that no one showed up to. He applauded every little Bible craft. And He is proud of every time you showed up in your class, even when you were the only one there.

Don’t Give Up!

Dear Teacher Of The Little Class, you may never have the big class. You may never have steady attendance Sunday after Sunday, but you are making a difference. You are being an example of faithfulness to the few children to whom you minister, and you are impacting their lives for eternity. Even if it is only one, isn’t it worth it? Who’s to know what that one child might grow up and accomplish for the Lord?

The Lord sees you and you are not alone in your little class!
