Bible Activities for 3- to 5-Year Olds

In this lesson, older preschoolers will learn that Mary received a visit from an angel named Gabriel, who told her that God had chosen her to be the mother of His Son, Jesus.

Many parents send out birth announcements after heir children are born. God sent angels to announce Jesus’ birth when He was born, but He also let people know hundreds of years earlier, through His spokesmen called prophets, that His Son would be coming to the earth. That’s what this lesson is about.

In this lesson, older preschoolers will learn that Jesus brought a 12-year old girl back to life, much to the delight of her parents and family. Jesus has power over life and death!

Jesus’ disciples were terrified when rough waves were tossing their boat about; then they saw Jesus walking on the surface of the water and thought He was a ghost! Jesus reassured them by saying to them, “It is I.” As He climbed in the boat, the water became calm. Jesus can calm not only rough waters, but hearts as well.

Jesus fed thousands of people with just five loaves of bread and two fish! Since this is something only God can do, we can know that Jesus is God. We should not only look at all the things Jesus did, but listen to and heed all the things He taught as well.

This lesson teaches older preschoolers that since a violent storm immediately became calm when Jesus told it to stop, no one is more powerful than He. Also, just as Jesus’ disciples could trust Him to take care of them, we can trust Him to take care of us today.

In this lesson, older preschoolers will learn about a grateful man whom Jesus healed along with nine of his friends. Sadly, only this man came back to express thanks to Jesus. It’s always appropriate to give thanks to God for His blessings to us.

In this lesson, preschoolers will learn that Jesus healed woman who had been stooped over for 18 long years. Although many people praised God, some others were angry because Jesus healed her on the Sabbath. Jesus showed them rules that keep people from helping others don’t honor God.

This week’s lesson provides a great example of the truth that faith is not passive, but active. Five men knew Jesus could heal, but how could the one who couldn’t walk get to Jesus, who was teaching in a crowded home? How about lowering him down through the roof? The faith of these men not only paved the way for physical healing, but for spiritual healing as well.
