Lesson Description

In the upper room on the same night Jesus was betrayed and arrested, Jesus and His disciples shared the Passover meal together—and Jesus gave it new meaning. Taking unleavened bread, He stated it represented His body, given for His followers. Taking the cup, He said it was His blood shed for His followers.

Clearly the Passover foreshadowed Jesus sacrifice for sinners on the cross. This particular Passover meal became the Last Supper and the first Lord’s Supper. When we observe the Lord’s Supper today, we look back to Jesus’ sacrifice and remember Him with gratitude, we thank God for the present reality of salvation, and we look to the future return of our Lord. Preschoolers won’t understand all of this, but they can learn about the Last Supper and that it was a very important event in God’s unfolding story. A Special Meal Bible lesson for older preschoolers is about Jesus’ last supper and teaches that God wants me to love and honor Jesus.
