Lesson Description

David made many mistakes as Israel’s king, but overall he demonstrated great wisdom and character in his rule over Israel. It was usual for a new king to have any potential rivals killed. This would include family members of the prior king. Because of his love for Jonathan, David had promised he would not eliminate Saul’s family. By showing kindness to Mephibosheth, a crippled son of Jonathan, David did the right thing and, again, demonstrated great character. This David the King Bible lesson for older preschoolers considers this story and teaches that God will help me do what is right.
