Lesson Description

Numbers 13–14 relates that Moses sent 12 spies into the promised land to explore it and to report their findings to the Israelite people. All twelve agreed the land was rich and fertile, but by a 5 to 1 (10 to 2) margin, the group spoke against any attempt to take the land because of the strength of the people and the fortification of their cities. The people let their fear overrule their faith, and they complained to Moses and Aaron. They should have listened to Caleb and Joshua, the two spies who brought back the minority report! These two recommended stepping out in faith, believing God for victory. God punished His people for their lack of faith, condemning them to wander in the wilderness for forty years. With the exception of Caleb and Joshua, only those younger than 20 would live to occupy the promised land. This Joshua Explored the Promised Land Bible lesson for older preschoolers teaches that we can trust God to help us do what is hard.
