Lesson Description
This lesson highlights one of only a few recorded events in Jesus’ childhood. The story takes place when Jesus was a little more than a month old. When He was 8 days old, He was circumcised according to the law and named Yeshua (Joshua in Hebrew; Jesus in Greek) as instructed by the angel. About one month later, Mary and Joseph went to the temple for purification according to the law. While Mary, Joseph, and Jesus were at the temple, God revealed His Son’s identity to Anna and Simeon. These two senior adults had been patiently awaiting the Messiah’s arrival. They testified to all those around that this was Jesus, God’s Son and the Messiah.
