Planning for an Intentional Kidmin New Year
Whether you are ready or not, a new year is just around the corner. You have 52 weeks of opportunities to pour into boys and girls, and every one of those opportunities matters. As you continue to, or possibly start on, planning to make this new year the best ever, first reflect, then pray before you plan.
Reflect on the Past Year
What went great this last year? What did you love about your curriculum? Where was growth observed? These are just a few of the questions you need to ask yourself. Sometimes you need to be brutally honest with yourself. There might be some major pain points that need correcting in this new year. There might also be some things that need to be removed from your ministry, and that’s ok.
Next Pray
While you’re still in the reflecting phase, pray. Ask God to reveal His plans for your ministry. You could have the best, most detailed kidmin plan ever, but if it’s not in alignment with God’s plans, none of that planning matters.
Then Plan
What lessons are you teaching? What events will you do? Which resources will you send home? What training topics will be covered?
Grab your favorite beverage, get cozy in a quiet place, and plan. What should next year look like in your kidmin so that you can be intentional in each and every moment?
Remember, You’ve Got This, Friend
There are 365 days of discipleship opportunities ahead of you. The stakes are high, and the tasks are many. When you reflect, you might feel a little discouraged. No one is pumped when faced with the reality that their event numbers were low, and parents weren’t engaged. The discouragement can be real, but you’re not alone. First and foremost, God is right there with you.
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
God has equipped you, called you, and placed you right where you are. He didn’t place you there just because He had nothing better to do. He placed you right where you are because you are the person He wants leading. Remember this and lean into Him as you reflect, pray, and plan.
If you could use some help planning your kidmin and leading with intentionality, Intentional Children’s Ministry is a great, practical resource. Get it at here. Also, I offer coaching. I’d love to connect with and encourage you.
