Seasons of Change
Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons. – Daniel 2:20-21a
Right when you think you’ve got this thing of life figured out; you’re serving in the right spot, you’re surrounded by the right people, you’re settled in the right location- BAM- the seasons change.
The changing colors and the falling leaves have got me feeling some kind of way about the changing seasons of life and serving. If you’re like me, serving is a vital part of your walk with Christ. You want to be serving, but let’s be honest, not all serving is created equal. There have been seasons of my Christian service where I felt so plugged in to my ministry outlet and so connected with my fellow volunteers and team members. It was great! But then things changed.
Seasons change, and I’ve found myself feeling a bit awkward surrounded by unfamiliar people that I haven’t bonded with yet, and ministry models that have me in a learning curve. Those seasons don’t feel as great. Those seasons start to shake up insecurities I thought I had long sense grown past.
Our Father is a Creator and in His Creator wisdom He knew that life needs seasons. Life on earth, our human life, and our ministry life can’t stay the same forever. Not only would that be soul-sapping boring, but it also wouldn’t be healthy. Healthy things grow and change, and go through seasons.
So, if you’re plugged in and enjoying a well-connected season of service, enjoy it! That’s a beautiful place to be. But if you’re going through a season of changes, new church, new leadership, new team members, take a moment to be thankful for this season as well. This is where you grow, expand, and discover things about yourself that you didn’t know before.
Just like the changing autumn leaves bring a special beauty all their own, this season has it’s special beauty, too.
