The Gospel Color Run

We decided to clean up the organized messy chaos of color wars and make The Gospel Color Run fulfill three purposes of ministry: evangelism, fellowship and discipleship. We invite the whole community to reach as many as possible while we clearly share the gospel multiple times throughout this event. Participants and volunteers have a great time making the gospel come to life through colors, and we equip kids to know and share the gospel beyond this event.

The idea of the Gospel Color Run is that you set up a course with six stations, marked by a traffic cone and a color flag or sign, and a finish line. Between the stations, volunteers with color powder line the course and sprinkle runners with color dust (or confetti, streamers, or silly string if you prefer). When they reach the stations there is a teacher (given a script) who will show them a color flag and tell them what that color represents in the salvation story along with scripture from the Bible that helps explain it. The colors included in the race are gold for God’s perfect love, black for our sin, red for Jesus’ sacrifice, white for the forgiveness God offers, blue for baptism of believers and green for growing in new life as a Christian.

Make this gospel-focused color run a bright spot in your ministry too. We have put together a Gospel Color Run kit, available through Deeper Kidmin, to make it easy for you to have this event with done-for-you resources you can customize for your ministry. The guide includes everything you need for sharing your vision, recruiting, training and equipping volunteers along with resources for promoting your event. We even included suggestions for how to follow up with guests, children or parents with questions, and volunteers and give you a helpful communications log printable to keep track of all your conversations. We hope you will benefit from all the things we’ve used and found helpful in putting on your own customized Gospel Color Run event.
