The Session Schedule for God’s Unfolding Story for Older Preschoolers

Each lesson in God’s Unfolding Story for Older Preschoolers includes two lesson plans (Hour A and Hour B). Having two plans provides variety and flexibility to those churches that have multiple hours in their preschool ministry schedule. Both hours will cover the same Bible story and Bible Phrase.

Lesson Plan Hour A

Hour A provides one hour of small and large group structured Bible study activities for older preschoolers. These activities will be used in Center Time, Bible Story Time, Craft Time, Snack Time, and Game Time/Dismissal. (See schedule blow.)

Lesson Plan Hour B

Churches offering families with older preschoolers a second hour in their schedule (where children may or may not have attended the first hour) may choose to use Hour B in addition to Hour A. Hour B offers the same components as Hour A while changing some of the Center Time activities and the Craft Time activity. Hour B can also be used during the week for another study when churches wish to reinforce the Bible story.

Suggested Schedule

The suggested lesson plan for each hour assumes the following schedule:

– Arrival – 5 minutes
– Center Time – 25 minutes
– Clean-up Time – 5 minutes
– Bible Story Time – 15 minutes
– Craft Time – 10 minutes
– Snack Time – 10 minutes
– Game Time/Dismissal

Both lesson plan hours are built as independent sessions, so they can be led by different teachers with no assumptions about who is attending either hour. The suggested time allotments are flexible and can be easily shortened or lengthened as needed to fit a church’s unique schedule or educational needs.
