Unit Overview

Jesus taught about many things. Mainly He taught about the kingdom of God and how His people are to live in God’s kingdom. As recipients of God’s love and citizens in His kingdom, God expects us to live in ways that reflect the love and forgiveness He has demonstrated toward us. We are to love as He has loved. We are to forgive as He has forgiven. We are to trust in God’s care and we are to extend that care to others. These are important kingdom truths that older preschoolers can understand, even if they don’t understand the nature of God’s kingdom and the role of Jesus as King in that kingdom. These stories will lay an important foundation for helping children understand kingdom behavior as they grow and mature. This unit includes the following lessons.

Kingdom Perspective

Jesus is the promised Messiah and King of the Old Testament who inaugurated the Kingdom of God when He came and taught about God’s Kingdom and then launched the Kingdom through the Church. Christians are God’s Kingdom citizens. As citizens, God expects us to live with love, forgiveness, and care for others.
