Creation Bible Lesson for Kids – God Made the World

OT01L1 180X180This is a Bible lesson about God’s creation of the world for children. It is the first of five lessons related to creation and the early chapters of Genesis. The other lessons are 2) God Made the Plants, 3) God Made the Animals, 4) God Made People, and 5) People Disobeyed God.

Lesson Title: God Made the World

Bible Text: Genesis 1:1-8

Learning Objective: To help the children understand that God created everything there is and is, therefore, Lord over all things and all people.

The Lead

Choose a free, printable activity from the list of related creation Bible activities that will be good to open the lesson. As children complete the activity, explain that today’s lesson is from Genesis 1 and is about God creating the world. Use the chosen activity to introduce the Bible story.

Read the story from the Bible or invite a child to read the story aloud. Depending on the age and maturity of your kids, you may want simply to tell the story in your own words.

The Lesson

Select an appropriate number of printable activities from the list of related creation Bible activities and use them to engage your kids in the story. As they work on the activities, emphasize the following truths:

  • The God of the Bible is the Creator of all things.
  • Nothing and no one is more powerful than the God of the Bible.
  • The God of the Bible is the only true God.
  • The God of the Bible is worthy of our love, our loyalty, our worship, and our commitment.

The Landing

Help children understand that we are to worship and serve God because He is Lord over all things and all people. Be aware that future lessons will focus on God’s goodness toward us that is demonstrated in creation. Today’s story is more focused on God’s greatness and worthiness. Notice also that we refer to “the God of the Bible” in order to distinguish Him (Yahweh) from other gods that are increasingly recognized in our culture and media.
