Mary’s Story Large Jigsaw Puzzle

God had been orchestrating the events leading up to the birth of Jesus, the Messiah, since Genesis 3:15. Like other characters in the story of Jesus’ birth, John the Baptist was part of God’s great plan of redemption and restoration. When Mary, the Mother of Jesus, learned that she would be the mother of the Messiah, her world was turned upside down. Mary had been visited by an angel telling her she would conceive by the Holy Spirit and bear the Messiah, to be named Jesus. It’s hard to imagine what Mary felt as a result of learning this extraordinary news. But, the angel encouraged her and she responded in faith. Mary’s relative, Elizabeth, was also dealing with the miraculous conception of her son, John the Baptist. When Mary visited Elizabeth, God confirmed for these important women that He was in control. Can you imagine the conversation between them while Mary was there? What was God doing? Why had He chosen them? These are normal questions when God calls us to a special task. This printable Mary’s Story Large Jigsaw Puzzle, based on Luke 1:39-56, will help children imagine this conversation between Mary and Elizabeth and think about how they might respond to God calling them to do something special. It can be used in a homeschool setting, one-on-one, or in a classroom setting like Sunday School.
