God Showed His Power to Pharaoh Bible Lesson for Kids

This is a Bible lesson about God revealing His power through Moses to Pharaoh. It is one of five lessons related to Moses. The other lessons are 1) God Protected Baby Moses, 2) God Called Moses, 4) God Led His People, and 5) God Gave Moses the Ten Commandments.

Bible Text: Exodus 5–12

Learning Objective: To help children understand that the powers of this world are no match for the God of the Bible (Yahweh). 

The Lead

Choose a free, printable activity from the list of related Bible activities that will be good to open the lesson. As children complete the activity, explain that today’s lesson is from Exodus5–12 and is about when God brought plagues and other problems on Egypt to convince Pharaoh to let the Israelites leave Egypt. Use the chosen activity to introduce the Bible story.

Read the story from the Bible or invite a child to read the story aloud. Depending on the age and maturity of your kids, you may want simply to tell the story in your own words.

The Lesson

Select an appropriate number of printable activities from the list of related Bible activities and use them to engage your kids in the story. As they work on the activities, emphasize the following truths:

• God is a powerful God who can do whatever He desires to accomplish His will in our lives.  
• God is more powerful than any challenge or problem we face or any power in the world.

Help children understand that God is more powerful than anyone or anything else we may ever encounter. 

As the teacher, be aware that the first lesson in this series focused on God’s plan for each person and His ability to accomplish His plan for us. The second lesson focused on God’s call to Moses and our need to be obedient to whatever God desires us to do. This lesson emphasizes God’s power over all other powers.
